The loss of a friend is truly one of life’s most difficult experiences. We go about our lives and lament the small inconveniences not always really appreciating our blessings that include those special people we are honored to call ‘our friend’.
I had the honor and privilege to call Mike Desmond my friend. Mike always had time to listen to me, offer wise counsel and be that person who gave more than asking for in return. My friend was someone I looked up to and wanted to be more like.
I have never known a more selfless man who defined strength of character and steadfast discipline. We use the word “professionalism’ to describe someone who excels at a very high standard at their chosen craft. However, to reach that achieved status it requires the embodiment of those principles. We should all aspire to those lofty goals, as did our friend.
May I offer my deep condolences to Mike’s dear wife Diane, his loyal friends and colleagues. We will miss his hearty laugh, beaming smile and most of all being in his presence. The world has lost a kind gentlemen who has flown west. Heaven has gained a most distinguished airman of the highest order.
