"Gray Hudson lived to bring a smile and extend joy to everyone he met, using his gift of humor to brighten this world! "
Gray Rives Hudson entered Heaven’s Gate on September 29, 2019. God provided a beautiful send-off as Gray and his wife, Michele, were celebrating Gray’s 61st birthday and their 36th wedding anniversary in St. Simons Island, GA.
After an enjoyable day trip to Savannah, Gray took ill with a stomach virus and the stress on his body caused heart failure. Several people’s lives were blessed by Gray’s donation of skin, bone and corneas.
Born in Roanoke, VA, to Malcolm and Nan Hudson, Gray’s family moved to Merritt Island, FL, where he grew up as a “space coast kid” while his dad worked at NASA in Cape Canaveral. Upon graduation from Merritt Island High School, Gray attended the University of Central Florida and received a degree in Business Administration.
Active with the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity, Gray maintained a deep sense of Brotherhood throughout the years. It was at UCF that he met and then married Michele Gich Hudson, and together they had a son, Michael Hudson.
Gray’s 37-year-career in financial services was truly his ministry. As owner of Hudson Financial Group, Gray dedicated his life to educate others about retirement planning and wise stewardship. He was blessed to partner with companies like G.A. Repple & Associates and Midland National Life.
Gray loved his family and was a terrific father to Michael, of whom he is so proud! Pets and children loved his playful side and he enjoyed having spontaneous fun.
In addition to his wife and son, Gray is survived by his mother, Nan Hudson, his brother Brian Hudson, sister-in-law Kim, and their two children. In-laws: Michael and Barbara Gich, sisters-in-law: Tammy Voorhees (husband Curtis), Patti Gich, Connie Haywood (husband Ray), and two nieces and two nephews.
As longtime member of Asbury UMC of Maitland, FL, Gray served as an Usher, Fellowship Steward, Sunday School Teacher, and Committee Member. Gray held a deep love for the traditional values of his country. He enjoyed volunteering for Champion of Choices and also supporting Michele’s Music Ministry.
Although Michele is heartbroken over the earthly loss of her beloved husband, she is strengthened by her faith and knows Gray is alive with Christ! Gray had a divine appointment with Jesus, and he is now and forevermore enjoying life in its fullest abundance!
A Memorial Service will be held in Maitland, FL, at Asbury UMC on Friday, Nov. 15 at 4:30 pm with a Celebration immediately following at Venue on the Lake.
