Charles Anthony “Chuck” Bannister, 58, of Lilburn, Georgia, passed away unexpectedly at his home on February 8, 2023.
Chuck was born on February 11, 1964 in Atlanta to Charles and Glenda (Guffin) Bannister of Monroe, GA. He grew up in Tucker the first eight years of his life, and later Lilburn, Georgia, where he has lived since 1971. He was a graduate of Parkview High School where he played football. Chuck did not follow the traditional track in life. He marched to the beat of his own drum and forged his own path. He was a hard worker who was eager to help others, whether it was painting a house or building a shed. He truly cared about using his skills. A lover of the outdoors, he spent many weekends camping in the mountains, caving, hiking, and fishing with his buddies. He had a passion, and talent, for cooking. He and his wife, Kimberly, enjoyed many evenings at home making delicious meals. Chuck loved food! Every night he would pick up his son, Connor, from work and ask, “You want to go to Waffle House?” He found a special joy in smoking meats, and, made a mean Brunswick Stew. Chuck was a very funny man—a big kid with a tender heart, always making people laugh with his jokes, his impersonations, and general silliness. More than all of that, Chuck was full of compassion and empathy for people, for animals, and had a heart that loved deeply.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Kimberly Bannister; his parents, Charles and Glenda Bannister; mother and father-in-law, Roger and Pam Williams; his three children, Chelsea Lake (J.D.), Braelynn Bannister, and Connor Bannister; grandchildren, Lila and Joe Don Lake; his sisters, Jenni Cole (Mark) and Alisa Pereira (Stephen) and his brothers-in-law, Kenneth Williams (Rusty) and Keith Williams (Vicki). He is also survived by his niece and goddaughter, Amelia Pereira, nieces Toni Williams and Taylor Williams, his nephews, Zach Cole (Kendall), Parker Cole (Victoria), and Maxwell Pereira; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Clifford and Lila Bannister, maternal grandparents James and LaVertis Guffin, brother-in-law, Kyle Williams, and mother-in-law, Suzanne Williams.
