"Dedicated to the recipients of Burton's organs"

Burton was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He worked as a Family Practice physician for 36 years in our small northern Minnesota community.  He knew his patients and they knew him for his listening and compassionate spirit.  His sudden death has left a big hole in our hearts, and the donation of his organs is a big part of our healing. We pray for the recipients of his lungs and liver and for the transplant team as they do their work of healing.

Celebrate the Life of
Burton Haugen

Our experience with Life Link has been so positive…from the initial contact at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Florida to the follow-ups and grief support. The flag ceremony in the hospital garden was especially significant. I felt like Burton’s soul and spirit were being lifted up as his body was passed on to give life and healing to others as he has done for 36 years as a family physician.

Burton was our dearest friend, our family Doctor, fellow traveler, and a Bonus Dad to our children. We will forever miss his energy, his mischievous smile, his sense of adventure, & his skill at questioning everything. To the persons who received the gift of life from the Haugen family…find joy and delight in every day…Burt did. We plan to celebrate Burt and the gift he was to us and continue to hold close the Haugen family and the people we love. Every day is a gift!

I worked with Burton for 10 years. He taught me the importance of devotion to our community, to have fun, and to live life. I am so saddened by his death and pray the recipients of his organs live a long life, full of fun and passion!
