LifeLink is thrilled to partner with Augusta University Athletics and Augusta University Transplant Program to promote organ and tissue donation within the Augusta community. We look forward to joining forces with coaches and players for all AU sports teams, as we work to save more lives through donation. Go Jaguars!
Here are a few quick facts:
- Did you know…one organ and tissue donor could save eight lives, and improve the lives of dozens more? That’s right, one donor could directly impact more than 80 people, returning them to renewed health and mobility.
- Did you know…with the exception of living donation, usually living kidney donation to a family member or friend, donation occurs after death? Physicians and nurses caring for patients who are ill or injured make every attempt to save the life of every patient, and they are not involved in the process of donation or transplantation. Donation becomes an option only after all lifesaving measures have been exhausted and a patients has been declared clinically and legally dead.
- Did you know…organ and tissue donation place no financial burden on the donor’s family? All costs associated with donation are covered by the organ or tissue recovery organization, which in Georgia, is LifeLink of Georgia.
- Did you know…how easy it is to register as a life-saving organ and tissue donor? Click the yellow “Say Yes Today” button on the right of your screen to register online, document your decision on your iPhone using the health app or say “yes” to donation when you get or renew your driver license.
We hope you will join us for our Donate Life games at Christenberry Fieldhouse.
