Showing Gratitude: Volunteer Recognition during National Volunteer Week

There is a special week of recognition that is extremely important during Donate Life Month – and it is Volunteer Appreciation Week. Since 1974, the third week of April has been nationally recognized as National Volunteer Week and  is an opportunity for nonprofit organizations to express gratitude to volunteers who lend their time, voice and services to causes that they care about in their community.  LifeLink volunteers are not only transplant recipients and donor families, but also individuals who have a general interest in organ donation and a deep desire to make a difference. These volunteers consistently support the LifeLink mission by advocating on behalf of Lifelink through public education efforts, participation in community events, sharing their experiences with medical professionals in hospitals and assisting with administrative duties in LifeLink offices.

National Volunteer Week is dedicated to putting a little extra effort into recognizing volunteers as the jewels they are, by celebrating their contributions with virtual high-fives, surprising them with treats and goodies, and a continuance of verbal and handwritten thanks.  During this special week, let’s all celebrate the impact of volunteer service and express our appreciation to them for their selflessness and dedication. We should all shine a light on the people that take action to create change and recognize that each volunteer's time and energy is appreciated.
