Florida’s driver license has undergone a redesign! Effective December, 2017, the Florida Department of Highway Safety & Motor Vehicles began issuing a new, more secure Florida driver license and ID card statewide. One of the changes on the driver license includes the “organ donor” designation, which previously was displayed simply as “organ donor” underneath one’s driver license photo. With the new driver license came a new donor designation… all registered organ and tissue donors in Florida will now see “heart donor” with a red heart icon on the lower, right-hand side of their license. In conjunction with the new design, Donate Life Florida is preparing to encourage all Floridians to “show us your heart” through a new public awareness campaign rolling out in February in driver license offices statewide. The campaign, “Mission Possible: Show Us Your Heart” will emphasize how driver license customers can show their generosity of heart by registering as an organ, eye and tissue donor during a driver license transaction. So get ready, get set… go “show us your heart” at a driver license office near you!
