Throughout National Donate Life Month in April, LifeLink of Florida, LifeLink of Georgia, and LifeLink of Puerto Rico partnered with businesses, hospitals, volunteers, and local landmarks to highlight the importance of organ, eye and tissue donors and encourage the community to register their donation decision. Many organizations supported the Let Your Light Shine Campaign by changing their nighttime visible lighting to blue and green throughout the month, during Spirit Week or during National Blue and Green Day on April 14. 

LifeLink Foundation Headquarters based in Tampa, Florida also joined in on the campaign for Blue and Green Day with nearly 2,300 luminaries lit in blue and green lining the front of the building and entrance. Each luminary had the first name of each organ and tissue donor in 2022 facilitated by LifeLink of Florida, LifeLink of Georgia and LifeLink of Puerto Rico and one for each “donor in spirit” who had indicated the intention to give but sadly did not qualify. The visual display even captured the attention of the local Tampa Fox 13 evening news. 

Blue and green represent the colors of the Donate Life brand, symbolizing the sky and earth, and the way they are intertwined through donation and the circle of life. Across the country more than 103,000 men, women and children are waiting for a lifesaving organ transplant and countless others will benefit from the gift of tissue. On average one donor can save up to eight lives through organ donation and may enhance up to 75 through tissue donation. Everyone has the power to provide hope to those waiting for their second chance at life simply by registering their donation decision.
