As we continue to navigate a virtual world through the COVID-19 pandemic, we look to find more ways to spread the lifesaving message of donation to our communities in Florida, Georgia and Puerto Rico. This April celebrated nationally as Donate Life Month, we challenged partners, community leaders and donation advocates to shine a light on organ, eye and tissue donation by changing their nighttime visible lighting to blue and green throughout the month.
Blue and green are recognized colors of the Donate Life brand, symbolizing the sky and earth, and the way they are intertwined through donation and the circle of life. Organ, eye and tissue donation is symbolic of life and living, a selfless gift and compassion for humanity.
Seeing blue and green lights on a local bridge, downtown area or hospital was a beautiful display of support and the start of a conversation. This visual may have resulted in someone asking the question, “What are those lights for and what do they mean?” Conversations could encourage someone to register as an organ, eye and tissue donor and to help save the lives of over 107,000 men women and children waiting on a lifesaving transplant and improve the lives of many more in need of tissue transplantation.
Our partners overwhelming display of support this April left us inspired and excited for the future. We are incredibly thankful to all participants who rallied to “Shine a Light on Organ, Tissue and Eye Donation.”
Thank you to the following organizations, businesses and individuals for letting their light shine in honor of National Donate Life Month.
