Say "Yes" Today

Emmanuel González Medina

Hello December and a new face in the LifeLink Faces of Transplantation Calendar. Meet Emmanuel.

Emmanuel came into the world with the purpose of teaching others that obstacles could be overcome. As a premature baby with Down syndrome, he exceeded the expectations of his medical team, grew up surrounded by love and successfully demonstrated abilities and talents to function at school and home. During his adolescence Emmanuel’s mother, Dolly, was given the news that Emmanuel would need a kidney transplant. Dolly was concerned it would be difficult for Emmanuel to go through the transplant surgery, but faith in God and the support of family gave her a positive outlook as they faced lifestyle changes and the long wait for transplant. Today, Emmanuel, together with his family, appreciates the gift of life that came from a stranger, and believes that kindness, love and perseverance are the keys to overcoming difficult moments. Seeing Emmanuel every day is a reminder that miracles are possible.
