Hello to November and a new face in the LifeLink® Faces of Transplantation Calendar. Meet Chris Fairley.
Chris and Heather Fairley had an ideal life, a loving marriage, and a beautiful home on their family farm. In December 2021, Chris contracted COVID, and suffered severe lung damage. After surviving a cardiac arrest, he spent 171 days on ECMO—a treatment that supplies oxygen throughout the body when one’s own heart and lungs can’t do the job themselves—before receiving a double lung transplant.
Recovery wasn’t easy, Chris needed help with, and had to relearn, everything—walking, breathing, even brushing his teeth. Today, Chris maintains his health and does everything he can to honor his donor hero’s lungs.
Chris and Heather share their story and the importance of organ donation with their community at local churches and organizations. They want everyone to understand how grateful they are for their donor hero and their community’s support. Chris wants the family of his donor hero to know, thanks to them, he looks forward to the little things in life, as Chris says, “Just getting up and breathing, and being with my wife.”
Through organ, eye and tissue donation, your story continues. Register your decision today!
